Over 1 (one) billion people worldwide suffer from sleep-related breathing disorders (such as Obstrutive Sleep Apnea). Dental Sleep Medicine has rapidly grown over the past decade. Despite such growth, Oral Appliance Therapy (OAT) can be challenging in terms of predictability and workflow efficiency, resulting in many clinicians being reluctant to incorporate “Sleep & OAT” into their clinics. However, most of these challenges can now be addressed by using recent technology and simple digital workflow solutions; resulting in efficient clinical workflows, improved patient experience, and expansion of access to care.

Dr. Shouresh Charkhandeh


As a well-known and passionate educator, researcher and innovator in dental sleep medicine, Dr. Charkhandeh has lectured at numerous national sleep meetings around the world, such as AASM & AADSM Annual Meetings (USA), CSS Annual Meeting (Canada), iBEDSMA Annual Meeting (Belgium), NVTS Annual Meeting (Netherlands), DGZS Annual Meeting (Germany) and many more dental meetings across the globe. He is the recipient of the “2012 & 2015 Clinical Research Award” and “2015 Clinical Excellence Award” from the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine.

Dr. Charkhandeh received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) Degree and Bachelor of Medical Sciences from the University of Alberta, Canada. He then furthered his education and training by completing a research fellowship in the area of “Sleep and Dental Sleep Medicine” at the University of Antwerp Hospital (UZA), in Antwerp, Belgium, where he is currently working on his PhD thesis in sleep medicine.
